Issues with ESXi 5, vShield Edge & vCloud Director - High CPU VSE devices

Hi all,

We are having a few issues which have recently started popping up within VMware ESXi 5 / vShield Manager 5.0 / vCloud Director 1.5.

1) We are getting a vim.fault.invalidlogin occurring every 5 seconds in the vCenter Server log - is there any way to tell which service is attempting to authenticate unsuccessfully? We've checked AD for any obvious service accounts which may have been changed or have had password expiry dates set with no luck.

2) We seem to be getting multiple heartbeat errors within the vShield Edge Manager logs. This occurs frequently. Coincidently these are the VSE devices that are spiking to high CPU in the next issue (3). Any suggestions?

3) We use vCloud Director 1.5 to deploy fenced vApps within VLAN's. vSphere then receives these deployed VM's and vShield Edge creates virtual networks. The virtual networks for each deployment are at times spiking to 100% CPU usage then dipping back down to normal (up and down) without remaining stable. As you can see, it has created warnings on the networks. Strangely enough, network connectivity for the VM's is fine, with the ability to reach any external IP of a VM within the network. I've seen similar issues when internal IP addresses or MAC addresses have conflicted - I've checked all of them out to make sure no conflicts.

We've raised a support case through VMware with this, but would like to put it out to the community to see what responses we receive. There have been no recent changes in our environment which would contribute towards these issues.

Appreciate any assistance that can be provided.

Thanks,

Jeff
