Ok, I was able to run the vdiskmanager (command and result pasted below for rookies like me), but unfortunately the VM is still not seen as a virtual disk.

Any thoughts on what to try next? Is it possible to copy snapshots into a new VM?

Thanks,

tim

e:\VM Installs\Clone of Windows 7 Clean (2)>"C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation\vmware-vdiskmanager.exe" -R "Windows 7-cl1-000163.vmdk"

The virtual disk, 'Windows 7-cl1-000163.vmdk', was corrupted and has been successfully repaired.
