Im not quite sure why the trunks are there either.

 

other enviroments i have seen have had 2+ interfaces bound to vm switchs without trunks and been fine. Spanning tree should sort it out.

 

LACP isnt used so it was setup for LinkAg and throughput......and it wasnt for load balancing considering that is only affected egressly.

 

Im toying with the idea of removing the trunks and changing my load balancing policy back to somthing other than IP HASH.

 

WE do have ALOT of port groups in VLANs on this vSwitch (which are also set to IP HASH) but i dont believe there was a reason for this. VLANs have no bearing on your LB policy settings.

 

IT may have been a previous admins attempt at trying to speed up a slow system by thinking that trunking the ports would help.....that IP HASH load balancing would help....etc....
